Malcolm Rush, BSN ‘25
Malcolm Rush has always believed in expressing gratitude, especially to those who helped shape our beginnings. His story is a testament to the impact that dedicated educators can have on the lives of their students.
Rush graduated in May 2025 from the College of Nursing’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. In his current role, Rush is proud to be part of Yale New Haven Health.
“I often find myself remembering lessons, conversations, corrections, and encouragement from nursing school,” shared Rush. “In many ways, I realize that I didn’t arrive here alone. I arrived carrying pieces of everyone who invested in me along the way.”
Looking back on his time at ֱ̲ Atlantic, Rush recalled that nursing school taught him far more than skills, medications, assessments, and clinical judgment. Critical thinking, learning how to advocate for others, and remaining present in difficult moments are lessons that have remained central to Rush’s approach as a practicing nurse.
“My instructors took the time to teach me, challenge me, encourage me, and hold me accountable,” noted Rush. “They guided me when I wasn’t always confident in myself and showed me what it truly means to be a competent, compassionate, and thoughtful nurse.”
Rush’s gratitude for his professors at the College of Nursing runs deep. He remains profoundly grateful to them for believing in him before he fully understood what he was capable of becoming.
“Their impact extends far beyond the classroom or clinical setting,” stated Rush. “The knowledge, discipline, compassion, and confidence they helped instill in me are now being carried forward into the care I provide to my patients.”
