The International Studies Minor provides an opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge of global issues from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. The International Studies Minor provides students with a chance to strengthen their understanding of the world in combination with their chosen concentration. The minor compliments concentrations in the humanities, social sciences, and the sciences.Ìý
Student must take 15 credits (five courses) from the list below. Twelve of the 15 credits must be upperÌý
division. The five courses (15 credits) must be drawn from three or more different disciplines. StudentsÌý
are reminded that at least 75% of the credits required for the minor must be completed at FAU, andÌý
they must maintain a minimum FAU GPA of 2.0 in the coursework required for the minor.
Foreign Language Requirement and Foreign Studies
Students must take at least one language course beyond the minimum for graduation (for Spanish thisÌý
would mean one course beyond SPN 1121). Students are strongly encouraged to take a literature orÌý
civilization course in a modern foreign language. For foreign languages not offered at the Honors CollegeÌý
(Arabic, German, Russian, Chinese, Italian, etc.) students may fulfill this requirement in the College ofÌý
Arts and Letters. FRE2220/2221 may also be taken online through the College of Arts and Letters.Ìý
Students are encouraged to participate in an Honors College study abroad program and count up to 7 ofÌý
those credits toward the minor if the courses appear on the list below.Ìý
