Please take a moment to congratulate our own Visiting Instructor (and alumna!) Dr. Carmen Duarte.Ìý Her latest book 45 de Agosto y otras obras dramáticas [August 45 and other dramatic works] was selected as a Bronze Medal winner in the 2024 Â̲èÖ±²¥ Book Awards.

Established in 2006,Ìý Ìý (FBA) recognizes, honors, and celebrates the best literature published each year by Â̲èÖ±²¥ authors or about our state.Ìý Carmen’s book was one of more than 190 entries submitted across eleven categories this year, and there was a very strong pool of submissions.ÌýÌý

Her achievement will be recognized with:

• A series of in-person events in Tallahassee
• Placing a copy of her book in Â̲èÖ±²¥ State University’s permanent collection of Â̲èÖ±²¥ Book Award Winners
• Recognition on their website with her photo and author bio
• Inclusion in , the magazine of Â̲èÖ±²¥ Humanities
• And medal stickers, which can be placed on her book
